While I am in love with my Kindle, one of thing I do truly miss from the "traditional" reading experience are book covers. I will gladly admit that I have, as this post title says, judged a book by its cover... or not... even to this day I browse a bookstore like it was an art gallery. The Kindle is cloaked in anonymity, so while you may not be impressing anyone that you are reading Tolstoy, you also avoid the embarrassment that you have the Twilight series in your hands.
Getting back to the book covers, I particularly like to see different versions, this mostly occurs when a book goes from hardcover to paperback. Recently, I have come across a rash of book-related blogs that have looked at the differences in covers between US and UK editions.
The first post I think I stumbled upon The Millions' look at the covers of the books in this year's The Morning News' Tournament of Books competition.
Here's an example using last year's runaway hit, The Help (link to my review).

If you've been in a bookstore in the past year, you certainly recognize the left cover as the US edition, with the UK version on the right. While I do like the US version, my interpretation is the birds are the 3 narrators - to the left are the maids, Abilene and Minny with Skeeter off to the right. But I do very much like the evocative, back to another time (tho not that far back!) UK version as well. So in this case a toss-up.
Here are some other US/UK book cover comparisons links:
