Decided to have a little fun with this week's submission for Photo Friday, this week's challenge:
The Team
Even though I had a selection of sports-related shots a lot of them were individuals and/or not capturing that team spirit. I thought this shot of meerkats, taken during our visit to the San Diego Zoo last summer, was thinking outside the box a bit... though I am sure others are going down that path as well (I'll admit to not really taken a good look at this week's entries).
They are quite adorable creatures, but if you've watched any of the Meerkat Manor series on Animal Planet you know that their cute exterior masks the often harsh "survival of the fittest" of life in wild... i.e., things get particularly nasty if there is more than one pregnant mama in the pack, only the higher ranking female gets to stay with the pack (the ladies rule here!) or if allowed to stay, one set of babies tends to be taken care of mafioso-style! This ain't pretty folks!
