Figured I would keep the eye candy rolling to start of the week... and with a W&C favorite, Rafael Nadal.
Rafa won another big tournament over this past weekend... the Tennis Masters Canada - which translates to a 29 match, 5 tournament win streak... very impressively 2 of those being Grand Slams and one Masters Series (one notch below a Slam)... and on three different surfaces -- two clay, two grass, and one hard court... and counting!
And now the talk of the tennis world is not IF Rafa will take over the #1 ranking from Roger Federer... but when. He can do it this week at another Master Series even in Cincinnati... but first having to clear the hurdle of winning the tournament and Federer losing before the semifinals... but given what's happened over the past couple of months it doesn't seem improbable.
But if that doesn't happen I think it's just a mere matter of math and time. With the summer tennis calendar being thrown into a bit of a tizzy thanks to the Olympics, I am pretty sure Federer will have enough points fall off his total for Rafa to take over regardless of his results sometime at or before the U.S. Open at the end of August.
The scary part for everyone else is that Rafa appears quite happy about all this. He is usually pretty intense... and while he is always happy to take his traditional bite out of his trophies for the cameras... there seems to be an increased sparkle in his eyes in these pictures.
... and if there is any indicator that one is becoming a "big thing" ... it the paparazzi starting to follow you around.
I just happened to stumble onto these pictures on the Web after Rafa's big win at Wimbledon and have been trying to find an excuse to post 'em... sharing some quality beach time with his girlfriend... who keeps a very low profile.
Not a bad way to star of the week with some wet 'n wild Rafa, eh?!
Oh my what a lucky lucky girl.
