Have I mentioned, I have yet another trip coming up? In fact, we're leaving 2 weeks from today!
In the midst of this crazy year of international travel, this one has kinda got lost in the shuffle... as we are *only* going to San Diego over the 4th of July weekend. It is actually a family vacation for Todd - parents, siblings, nieces and nephews -- and me! A total of 10 of us altogether, so it should be interesting! Current plans call for a two car/SUV caravan -- wouldn't have minded taking the Cooper, but it's certainly not the most practical vehicle when you are dealing with more than two people (and their luggage)!
It has been a long time since I have been on a family vacation -- but I am guessing it will be much more entertaining for me than for anyone else -- as it tends to be far better being the observer rather than the participant in family dynamics. After a rough return to work since our Europe trip (nor was it a cake-walk while we were there... not a good sign when his work cell phone rang while we were on the London Underground coming in from Heathrow), Todd certainly needs a break - but I fear an extended, full-time weekend with the family may not quite be the antidote... but I will do my best to get him to relax, breathe, count to 10, drink, etc.! :-)
I have been to San Diego a few times (arguably - or not - it is the summer getaway spot for Arizonans), but would say it has probably been around a decade since the last time -- so it will be nice to see the ocean (it's been two years since the last time, Hawaii) and, of course, cooler temps. We've been on a week-long 110+ degree streak here in Phoenix that does not promise to break (to say 108-109!) until next week.
Not sure quite what is on tap. I hear rumors of the Zoo and beach. I think (thankfully) we'll be passing on Sea World -- though we were planning on opting out of that activity if it did get into the mix. We would have liked to have seen a baseball game at Petco Park... but, funny enough, the Padres are in Phoenix vs. the Diamondbacks for the holiday weekend.
And Rocky gets another trip to the pet resort. I am sure he'll have plenty of company over that particular weekend. With the crazy heat, I haven't had him out to the dog park lately... and barring a brief visit from his aunt/cousin Lucy last weekend (for Father's Day), I am sure he will be more than ready to terrorize play with some pups.
