For a third week, not much change in my gal rankings, but as Randy said they definitely had "Yo" compared to the guys.

#1 - Melinda ("I'm A Woman"/Peggy Lee) - We have a new front-runner. I have to admit I thought another contestant pretty much was going to run away with it, but Melinda stepped up with another top-notch performance. She also gets technical difficulty points for pulling of this very wordy song without missing a beat (or breath).
#2 - Lakisha ("I Have Nothing"/Whitney Houston) - If you haven't guessed Lakisha was that "another contestant" I was just speaking of... she returned back to full-on diva mode this week, and it looked like she had the #1 spot secured until Melinda closed out the night. Perhaps a tad predictable song choice, but noticeable was the lack of criticism for attempting a Whitney song, while she may not be no Ms. Houston, Lakisha is still pretty darn good.
#3 - Stephanie ("Sweet Thing"/Chaka Khan) - I have to admit I am not very familiar with the song, but I could kind of understand what Randy and Simon were saying about Stephanie's copy-catting of the original artists. She seems pretty imitative each week, but she is still quite good... and looks stunning. Not a bad combination.
#4 - Sabrina ("Don't Let Go"/En Vouge) - It seems like every week, we have a bit of a disagreement over the placement of Sabrina and Stephanie, Todd prefers Sabrina... but they are pretty darn close in my book.
#5 - Jordin ("Heartbreaker"/Pat Benatar) - I thought Jordin definitely seemed a bit more grown-up tonight in appearance and with her song choice. Granted this song choice seemed a bit odd for a teenager, but Jordin pulled it off... though I don't think it necessarily showed off her big voice. Still a bit awkward of performer.
#6 - Gina ("Call Me When You're Sober"/Evanescence) - The look and song choice were all in sync this week, but still found it pretty screechy and sharp at times... and there's just something that continues to rub me about Gina... for me she doesn't walk that confident-arrogant line effectively.
#7 - Haley ("If My Heart Had Wings"/Faith Hill) - Oy, this almost landed in my bottom spot because the song was too darn sugary. Rainbows and unicorns should have been showing on the screen behind her. But Haley does seem to be a very sweet (pun intended) girl and quite attractive... and I truly felt bad for her given Simon's (quite accurate) bluntness... she's just not quite right for Idol.
#8 - Antonella ("Put Your Records On"/Corinne Bailey Rae) - Not unlike my male basement dweller, Sanjaya, this was Antonella's best week... but that still ain't saying much. She hit a couple of good notes (particularly the last), but overall it was pretty flat and she is really out of her league.
Elimination Prediction: I am fairly confident that Haley will be eliminated... but then I think we are in for a surprise. Antonella should go, but the publicity (even sympathy) wave still seems strong, so I think she's safe. Last night, my gut told me Jordin may be in danger... but she may have the teen vote... so is it the somewhat interchangeable Stephanie or Sabrina?! I know, not much of a "prediction" when I end up naming 5 out of 8 contestants.
