Aloha! As they say in Hawaii we're back "on the mainland"!
We had a great trip and there is so much to talk and write about that I am sure that I will do my usual "beat the dead horse" and babble on way too much about it... but don't worry, we eventually move on to something else before too long here at W&C.
Instead of doing a sequential re-count of the trip, I think I will just split it into themed posts in the days ahead... hotels, food, beaches, cool sites... and... umm... I was a little sneaky with the digital camera, too... so I got some shots of some of the other pretty things on the beaches... and I am not talking about sand and surf. So look forward to some eye candy down the road.
We didn't end up doing that many organized activities while were there... many things were sold out... or after getting waaaay too much sun on Wednesday we had stay out of the sun (which is kinda sorta hard to do on an island).
We had a few "real world" intrusions while we were there... but we tried not to get too wrapped up with them... had to do a few organizational type calls regarding my car...
And then, if you ever worked with a contractor... you know how that goes. They don't show up when you want to and vice versa... so while on Maui when found out on our new pool surface was being installed when it wasn't (and shouldn't have been!) started until this upcoming Tuesday. But all is fine there and our pool is currently re-filling and it looks beautiful... and the car stuff is moving along as well.
So anyhow, this "introductory" vacation post has already gone on too long... so let me just say we totally hit the hotel jackpot on both Oahu and Maui... the pictures below are both off our hotel room balconies (or lanais as they are referred to in Hawaii)...
Despite booking a "ocean view" room, upon check-in at the Hilton Hawaiian Village we were told they had upgraded us to a "deluxe ocean view" and this is what we got... woo hoo!

On Maui we did book a "deluxe ocean view" room... and they weren't kidding about that!
We were treated to this real-life postcard just a couple of hours after checking in to the Embassy Vacations Resort Kaanapali Beach (though it's not going to be called that for too much longer, they're dropping the Embassy name).

A lot more stories to come... stay tuned!

Welcome back guys! Glad you had a good time.
