If you read W&C regularly you know that I am a television addict... and the networks definitely keep me on my toes.. and, at times, certainly frustrate me with their programming decisions.
I seem to be in a constant state of tweaking the Season Passes on our two TiVos to get everything to work out "just right." However, the upcoming months are going to be a challenge... and yes, some sacrifices will have to be made.
While we certainly could watch something [gasp!] "live"... the prospect of getting behind on two shows, while watching a 3rd would just get us into hole that would be difficult to ever climb out of... even more so since Prison Break, Real Time With Bill Maher, and The Sopranos are returning in February and March.
Two days, in particular, are posing problems... first there is Tuesday:

The Amazing Race 9 vs. Scrubs vs. Commander In Chief
Now, TAR and Scrubs are definitely near the top of the list of our favorite TV shows. If I could only watch one reality show (perish the thought!) it would be TAR... and probably the same scenario for our friends at Sacred Heart.
So, sorry Madame President, you are being impeached from our TiVos. We still scratch our heads how this show does better in the ratings than The West Wing? It is certainly more of a guilty pleasure than an hour of high drama. Having watched it the all season long, it just seems a shame to miss the last bunch of episodes (which have been marginally better since Steven Bochco took over). ABC is helping us out a bit, by putting the show on hiatus for most of March... but the conflict will likely remain no matter when the show returns for its final 3 episodes.
Next, up is Thursday:

Survivor vs. Dancing With the Stars vs. Will & Grace/Four Kings
Like a Pavlov mutt, Survivor goes on the primary TiVo... DwtS gets pushed to TiVo #2 (where we'll just "double up" on it on Fridays and fast-forward thru much of the overblown Results show)... so W&G and Four Kings, the weakest links (goodbye!) in NBC's return to comedy Thursdays, get the boot. While I think Scrubs deserves a Thursday night slot, at least for now, I am quite happy it is not there.
Now, this wasn't a gut-wrenching decision either... granted I would like to see W&G in its final season and Four Kings is a generic, not anywhere near great, but enjoyable diversion. Good news is that DwtS will be wrapping up late February(?) and the slot should open back up...however...
The wildcard on both nights is American Idol. You know that Fox is just going to put this on as often and as long as possible each and every night it can. It definitely airs on Tuesdays, but out of the line of fire of the above shows... but I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are some extended editions that will creep into the hour.
But this year, I believe Fox is adding a Thursday night results show during the semi-final rounds... so something like boys on Tuesdays, girls on Wednesday... and I am guessing the results show will hit during that first hour on Thursday.
But I guess we'll cross that crowded bridge once we get there... right now it is making my head hurt.

I have to applaud your decisions. If I did not have two DUAL-TUNER TiVos, which allows me to record four things at once, I would be in a serious dilemma. Actually, I would just have to resort to recording with a VCR, which I hope by now I have forgotten how to do!

I just always like to check in here to see what it is I'll be watching for the next few weeks. Just point me at the television and hit the "Play" button. I'm pretty much happy regardless of what's on the screen. :)

Much to my delight I don't have to eliminate any of my choices as I also have time shifting channels!! I just have to choose which ones to tape in primetime and which on the time delay. hehehe!
