Just a few random notes to close out the week:
My timing was all screwed up this week. You'd think a "short" 4 day week would go by quickly, but didn't it seem longer? On Wednesday, I thought it was Thursday ... and even my weeks were screwed up, I was prepared to do a post about the TV show 24 thinking it was premiering this Sunday, only to realize it's next Sunday (so look for that post sometime next week!)
The W&C tennis curse lives on! Whenever I dole out some praise to a player, they end up losing. I spoke of Martina Hingis' surprising comeback yesterday... and today, after serving for the match, she loses to Flavia Pennetta (anyone? anyone?)... she also pulled out the doubles tournament with a hip flexor strain!
We still have not seen that cowboy movie. Yes, I am expecting a knock on the door any minute now asking us to surrender our gay cards. The movie has only been playing in one theater in town for the past few week. It is not conveniently close by and also near a busy mall, so I was not terribly enthusiastic about dealing with that, especially during the holiday season. But starting today it opened in 4 more theaters in the Phoenix metro area. But do you think on even one of the 60+ screens within 5-6 miles of our house? Nope. 14 miles away. 21 miles away. 29 miles away. 34 miles away! The original theater I was too lazy to want to go to is a mere 17 miles away. We'll see it, I promise!
Finally, I just came back from the post office to get some stamps in anticipation of the 2 cent postal increase that goes into effect Sunday. As expected, the parking lot was packed. I certainly wasn't going "take a number" and even the "just stamps" line was 7-8 people deep. So I headed to the vending machines... they had the new stamps (without the new denomination), but no 2 cent fillers... but, go figure, they did have 3 cent stamps! So I just bought those and figure I'll just donate the extra pennies to the USPS. Of course, I was doled out those annoying dollar coins when I was done with my purchase... ugh!
Have a great weekend!

That's so typical of Hingis. I'm sure that won't be her last tournament withdrawal of the year.
