... well, I am not leaving today... but in about a month... and no, W&C is not coming to an end... I am just heading back East to visit the parental units. We finalized our travel plans over the weekend... so it looks to be a whirlwind trip.
I head back home on a red-eye flight on a Monday night, arrive Tuesday morning into beautiful Newark Liberty Airport... spend the day w/ the parents... head with them for an overnight to Atlantic City on Wednesday, get back on Thursday... Todd catches a red-eye on Thursday night (arriving Friday a.m.), we head up almost immediately to visit my very best friend from college... we catch the train for a quick 24-hour trip to the Big Apple on Saturday morning, get back sometime Sunday afternoon... and catch a noon flight back to Phoenix on Monday... whew... I am tired just writing it!
But we are kind of excited... this will be my first trip back in Manhattan in about 15 years (since I moved to AZ) and it will be a first time visit to NYC for Todd... and also his first trip to my hometown. I would normally solicit readers for recommendations for our NYC adventures... but we already have a tentative and already overly-ambitious race around the city that we are really not looking for any more input! Needless to say, since our time there is so short, we will not be lingering anywhere for very long... so a Broadway show will have to wait for another trip! I will just keep my fingers crossed that the weather will be good for our one shot this time around.
It is also a good thing our pricey French Polynesia trip is still in our recent memory bank or I think we would have had a coronary over hotel prices in midtown Manhattan! First, it was a challenge just to find one that had rooms available... or even just allowed you to book just a single night. Let's just say our hotel room for one night is MORE expensive than the cost of a round-trip airline ticket from Phoenix to Newark! Egads!
Also on tap travel-wise is likely another quickie weekend trip to our 'ole standby... Las Vegas. A business associate of mine is going to be up there for a conference... so might head up there on a "business trip" in early November ... it is still in the talking stages, but I imagine it will happen... it is not like I need to be coerced into a jaunt up to Sin City.
Finally on a unrelated sidenote, you may see I put up a button on the right sidebar to help out the four-legged victims of Hurricane Katrina... just as a preemptive strike to any criticism, I am not endorsing or suggesting supporting animals over human beings... but if you have some extra $$ to spread around... I am sure they could use some financial assistance as well.

It might be just me, but it doesn't appear your W&C banner is displaying when you go into individual post pages (like to read or leave comments).
