... for a brief run-down of the "must see" season finales.
Our TiVos did not let us down. No cable box outages, no weird TiVo messages... and even more amazing, we remained totally spoiler-free! We got American Idol out of the way first on Saturday night. I knew I couldn't do much web surfing without finding out who won. Sunday night we watched Desperate Housewives, Monday was Lost, and last night we finished up the last two hours of 24. There is still stuff to watch (last 2 episodes of Jack & Bobby and Las Vegas), but at least the major ones are out of the way.
So I assume it being a week late... it is safe to talk about these shows, but if you are still in the dark... avert your eyes!
American Idol - When the show went with the usual sappy "Idol" ballads for the original material that they new Idol would released I sensed Carrie was well on her way to taking the title. She was pretty much the cookie-cutter Idol from Day 1, so no big surprise. After the first couple of seasons, we all know it doesn't really matter who wins... Bo (and many of the rest of the bunch this season) will be just fine.
Desperate Housewives - Well, they wrapped up some of the mysteries pretty quickly, huh? It kind of reminded me of reading a lengthy novel where the author seems tired of writing and says "let's just wrap this up"... and there seems plenty of material for next season. I knew there was going to be a death in the final episode, but was kind of surprised it was Rex (was thinking it might be Mrs. Huber's snoopy sister Felicia). Should be interesting to see how this plays out since much of Bree's best lines were those bounced off of Rex.
Lost - Slightly/mildly disappointed in the finale, probably due to all the hype... but still much more high quality than most things on television these days. I was pretty sure the last scene was going to be the survivors looking into the opened hatch (so they didn't let me down there). Was a bit surprised with the Claire baby/Walt "we want the boy" switch/twist -- though I had figured out it was the "others" on the boat before they arrived to the raft. But still plenty to keep us hooked for next season.
24 - Again, just a bit eeehh -- as with DH, this one suffered a bit from "hurry up and finish" syndrome... the finding/blowing up of the nuclear missile headed for LA took what... all of 5 minutes? Good thing Chloe knew how to expand the parameters of the transgressor coordinates (or some gobbledy-gook like that). I heard rumors that this was going to be the day Jack did not survive... so while I certainly did NOT want that to happen, this second round of "back from the dead" was a bit of an eye-roller (not that I don't expect eye-rollers on this show).
Ok, likely another travelogue post later today - do I hear cheers or groans out there? ;-) Though I have to admit, I like having all this pre-written material ready to go!

I don't think Rex is really dead. I think he and his doctor cooked up a "fake Rex's death" plot to catch Bree, whom they think was poisoning Rex.

I am glad to hear someone else was disappointed with the 24 season finale. I think it may have ran it's course, but I just have to have Kiefer!
Bo will be fine, but Carrie although cookie cutter idol, was a far superior vocalist. I was very disappointed!
