We have had quite the Fine Wine dry spell... we have to go way back to April 21st to find our last candidate... Rafael Nadal, who I have decided to take off the list since I don't expect much from him over the next 2 weeks of Wimbledon... now watch him prove me wrong!
I have contemplated adding a guy or two over this time... tinkered around with the idea of adding singer Rob Thomas... thought about Dancing With The Stars Alec Mazo (but that would be giving that show more credibility than it deserves... though it was the #1 rated show on television last week... go figure!?!)... but neither had that extra Fine Wine oomph!
So I decided to go with someone who has captured my attention over the past several years. As Showtime's Queer As Folk marches on in its final season, I thought it was only appropriate that I honor Gale Harold for his 5 years of service ... playing the sexy (and oversexed) Brian Kinney.
Brian has pretty much bedded most of the lovelies who have walked through the door of the fictional gay fantasyland that is Club Babylon. While the character of Brian embodies the most negative stereotype of a gay male (promiscuous, unapologetic, popper sniffing, pot smoking, "hang from the chandelier" sex maniac), Harold has turned him into one of the more multi-dimensional characters in the series. And unlike some of his co-stars, he can deliver a line... often dripping with just the right amount of sarcasm. Granted Brian has softened (bad pun!) over the years, thanks to a bout with testicular cancer and the increasing realization that he does <gasp!> love Justin (why I don't know... the "innocent" act worked for a couple of years, but Justin has become flat/whiny one-note wonder)... but Gale Harold (not the sexiest name! but here is the III, so it must be a family name) is still worth watching!
Anyhow, Gale came to the acting business late in life at age 28... he turns 36 on July 10th (born in 1969... '69, how appropriate!). Prior to landing the QAF gig, he was a carpenter. He was born and raised in Decatur, Georgia but according to an online bio calls Toronto (where QAF is filmed) home these days. He has done a few independent films (none that I have seen) and was once featured in a commercial for the Ford Pontiac Aztec (that awful station wagon/SUV combo). (Whoops got the car maker wrong, didn't realize this was a "make it or break it" thing! And folks don't take any of this seriously! See comments.)
Oh, he is straight... so it can probably be safely holds the record for a straight guy who has participated in the most (and often explicit) gay sex scenes in television history.

Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! YUCK!!!
I abhore this guy.

So, Scott what do you really think?! ;-) I am gettin' this sneakin' suspicion (call me crazy) that you are not a QAF fan ;-) Maybe, I'll have to check in with Rob Byrnes and see what he thinks...

While I am a big QAF fan, I have never really found Gale Harold that attractive. Now, if you had chosen Robert Gant (Ben), I would be more in agreement with you. However, differences of opinion is what makes the world interesting.

I must say I can not get enough of Gale Harold or Brian Kinney for that matter, as a straight female I can honestly say I have never been so attracted to a man, even while acting as a gay male. Beautiful pick, Gale is perfect.

I think it's a brilliant idea to put brian kinney character in the movie. He's mean, cold, smart, rich... he's just perfect, I think even women will fall in love with that kinda character, even he's gay. I think without kinney in QAF, it will be very plain... By the way, can anyone email me gale harold's email address? thanks

Gale Harold, so adorable. He never convinced me though in that part, it was obvious to me he did not know to many gays of that calibre. Yet, I loved his enthusiasm to play gay, I think he kinda became one in real life with the previous season: a defeated one. Hope he's over it now.
I almost cried on the last scene with Justin. That one was so real.
Can't wait to see him in another role. (The director should focus.)

Gale is one of the most breathtakingly gorgeous men I've ever seen, and I've seen him person. His talent and charisma are what accentuates the looks, he has a vulnerability about him that's irresistable. I also love the Justin character(Randy Harrison) and hardly think he was a whiny one-note character--another amazing talent-- have seen Randy in person too in a play(and naked in one scene), absolutely beautiful in person.

I agree, Gale Harold is georgeous! I respect his courage for playing all those heavy scenes as Brian Kinney. It is highly unusual for a man being so secure about his sexuality that he can play the ultimate queer, when he's actually straight!
Gale Harold is the man of my life :]

For those of you who may or may not know, Gale Harold is now on dvd for his ground-breaking performance as 'Harold' a dysfuctional, troubled man dealing with his past. You have never seen him like this. A story too confronting for most...THE UNSEEN.
Starring: Gale Harris, Phillip Bloch, Steve Harris
Check it here: http://www.TheUnseenTheMovie.com
He is dark, disturbing, vulnerable, and raw Georgia country. Eat your heart out.

Gale Harold is a beautiful, charismatic and exciting actor. He is incredibly sexy and undeniably hot!! As much as I love QAF, the show would be dull without him. He ingites the screen with his presence. I wish him much luck and hope to see him in many roles in the future.

I just love Gale Harold! I look for anything he's in, and even if I don't care for the material, I will watch it at least once!
Nothing will ever replace or come close to QAF!
