Some quick updates about the two reality series centering around Las Vegas casinos.
Regarding American Casino, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the "first season" of the show will continue in Late September:
An episode dealing with the death of Green Valley Ranch executive Michael Tata has been delayed until later this fall. Calls for an explanation to the show's executive producer, Craig Piligian, were not returned Wednesday. Tata, 33, the vice president of hotel operations at the property, was found dead at his residence July 6. Meantime, Assistant Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg said Wednesday his office is awaiting toxicology results to determine the cause of death. Eight of the original 13 episodes have aired, but no shows will be aired in August because of "Shark Week" programming and then the Olympics. The reality show will return Sept. 3, with repeat shows. The next new show will air Sept. 24.
The newspaper reported earlier that 18 new episodes have been ordered. The ratings have been good, including a reported 50 percent ratings jump among viewers 25 to 54.
The news is not as good for the Mark Burnett/Fox series The Casino. Starting this week, the network will air the series twice a week (Sunday and Monday nights) in order to "burn off" the remaining episodes. The finale (and presumably the last ever episode) will air on August 29th.
